In Vienna, this year’s programme once again includes events that add a critical and resistant perspective to the slogan “Loud & Proud”.
This June also marks the sixth anniversary of the major wave of protests sparked by the Black Lives Matter movement, an opportunity to highlight the Black pioneers of the Stonewall riots and to explore the intersections of anti-racism and queer visibility.
The dials at Radio ORANGE 94.0 are turned up for the LGBTQIA+ issues that Pride Month brings into focus. Queer radio collectives and programme makers broadcast on ORANGE 94.0 throughout the year. In June, they are joined by many other producers in making both celebration and protest audible.

Juni 1969 wehrten sich queere Menschen im New Yorker Stonewall Inn gegen eine Polizeirazzia, ein Moment des Widerstands, der zur Geburtsstunde der weltweiten LGBTIQ+-Bewegung wurde. Thomas Sparr erzählt, wie dieser Aufstand Mythos und Wirklichkeit zugleich ist und bis heute nachwirkt – in Österreich und Deutschland, in den USA und überall dort, wo queere Menschen noch immer für ihre Rechte kämpfen müssen.
