To the Right of the Far Right: Agendas and Appeals

Episode · 31.08.2026 17:00 - 17:57

How far to the right is European politics shifting?

Far-right ideas that were once considered marginal are increasingly entering political parties, the media, and public debate. New movements are emerging, international networks are growing, and increasingly radical positions are gaining visibility.

Why is there growing support for parties with more extreme agendas? What happens when far-right parties come to power? And how closely are far-right movements across Europe and beyond connected?

The discussion brings together Steven Forti, Italian historian and researcher on fascism, populism, nationalism and the contemporary far right; Karolina Zbytniewska, Editor-in-Chief of FocusEurope.pl and researcher specialising in populism and political communication; and Nina Horaczek, political scientist, author and chief reporter at the Austrian weekly FALTER, who has been researching right-wing extremism in Austria and Europe for many years.

The discussion is moderated by Mirjana Tomic from fjum / Presseclub Concordia.

The discussion was recorded on June 29, 2026 at Presseclub Concordia in Vienna.
